Another Boxset I Must Get!
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/George-Jungle-Complete-Series/8400

This boxset includes Super Chicken, my favoritest Jay Ward cartoon of all time. So getting this boxset is a must for me.

Granted the idea of a new George of the Jungle cartoon scares me.

You... you CAN'T make new George of the Jungle cartoons. Not a chance. Not in the modern day. Seriously, GotJ, Rocky and Bullwinkle, those sorts of shows were written really from a radio standpoint. The majority of the impact is from the writing and the dialog, with jokes coming fast and non-stop, much less from sight gags. In fact, you could probably do a lot of them solely by radio itself.

Just try to do that in a modern environment. Just try telling someone in a business suit that what you have is a cartoon, but the main focus is the dialog and jokes straight through eight or so minutes (between commercials) almost without coming up for air. That won't fly at all.

My favorite thing about Jay Ward cartoons is the wordplay. The closest I've seen to anything like that in a recently created cartoon was probably Dave the Barbarian (which felt like a Jay Ward cartoon on crack), but that show was still rather spastic at time. Besides, it also got cancelled after a year. So your probably right.

No one can do that stuff like Jay Ward did.
