Top Five Scooby-Doo Intros According To Me.
As many probably know by now, I'm a Scooby-Doo fan, though I'm a pretty picky Scooby-Doo fan. Pretty much the only Scooby-Doo series I like are Scooby-Doo Where Are You!, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, and What's New Scooby-Doo. Though The Scooby-Doo Show is pretty decent, too.

Now while this may be the case, I will admit that some of the series I didn't like had some pretty cool theme songs and opening animations, so I decided to make a list (with a little help from Youtube) of my Top 5 favorite Scooby Themes (with some little bonuses, too).

5. The Pup Named Scooby-Doo

This theme is such an awesomely catchy little fifties theme going on with it. I especially like the random but well timed "Jinkies" in the middle of it.

4. The New Scooby-Doo Movies

When I think back to watching Scooby-Doo as a kid the intros I remember the best were this one and the one for the Scooby-Doo Show. The song is simple and catchy even if it feels like the songwriter got bored and just decided to write "nananana na na nana" instead of words. I also thought the animation of Scooby getting scared and splitting into four was rather odd.

3. Scooby-Doo Where Are You!

This is the one most people remember and for good reason, too. It's a really catchy song and it gets in your head ALL DAY LONG. Also I usually frown against making intros completely composed of scenes from the show, rather than making completely new animation for the opening. However I do have to say this intro does make good use of the clips and gives you a good feeling of what to expect from the show. This was also the only Scooby show to use a darker color palette, which I felt help make it feel more mysterious, but I digress.

2. What's New Scooby-Doo?

I know some people who don't like this entry theme, but I think it's a fun and catchy song. The intro is also amazingly well animated (even if the bats randomly go in slo-mo at a point). It's a really fast, fun, and catchy song, and it really goes well with this show. Granted What's New Scooby-Doo impressed me by simply NOT SUCKING like I was afraid it would. It's pretty much what you'd get if Scooby-Doo Where Are You! had a better budget (and more than two people writing it), it's a good show and definitely better than what came after it... ALL DAY LONG!

1. The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries

Oh man, I love this theme. Yeah, I didn't dig this interpretation very much, I mean Scrappy is not a replacement for Freddy and Velma... in fact Scrappy doesn't need to be there anyways. It also had Daphne acting rather out of character as the new go get 'em leader of the group and head sleuth, but considering how little she did in the original series I'll let that part slide. She deserves some time in the sun, too. Too bad the show wasn't all that great.

Crap, I totally got off the subject, I love this intro, the theme is so 80s it hurts, and I love that. It also has a great, if not insanely random, opening. Why is Scooby in a trench coat? Why is the singer's voice being lip synched to Daphne and Shaggy? How did Scrappy get from the bottom of the Statue of Liberty to the flying helicopter in time to catch Scooby? Who cares, it's fun, 80s style colorful, and best of all, it has a bunch of monsters doing the Thriller dance, and that's why this is my favorite Scooby intro:

Honorable Mention: The Scooby-Doo Show

What can I say, this and The New Scooby-Doo Movies intro are the two I remember seeing the most as a kid. So I decided it should be here as an honorable mention.

Cool Intro Animation Award: The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo

While I despise this particular version of the show, I can't argue that it has a pretty cool and sort of epic looking opening. All the black hands attacking Scooby is kinda' creepy looking. Not the coolest or best intro animation (that goes to What's New, Scooby-Doo?), but definitely cool enough to warrent mentioning.

Also is it just be or does Daphne's new character design make her look like Debbie from Speed Buggy?

Most Obnoxious Theme Song: Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get A Clue

Man, I'm not sure if I dislike this show more or less than 13 Ghosts, but it's pretty terrible... ALL DAY LONG. The intro is extremely lazy looking and the theme song is REALLY OBNOXIOUS... ALL DAY LONG! Unfortunately it's that type of repetitive annoyingness that gets stuck in your head and WILL NEVER LEAVE... ALL DAY FUCKING LONG! I will at least credit this show with one thing, they managed to make Shaggy look and sound even more like a stoner than he originally did. That's an accomplishment.

For a BS Bonus, I'm adding THE ORIGINAL ORIGINAL Theme Song for Scooby-Doo Where Are You! I think it was only used on the first episode and most current and later airings of the first episode changed it to the more well known theme. So here's the rarely seen true first opening, just for historical purposes.

There's my post of going down Sccoby-Doo memory lane. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Seeya'.

Christopher Walken....not even as "guest celebrity". He should just hang out in the Mystery Machine the whole time.
